BUTTERWORTH: No individual is above the law as is evidenced by investigations and prosecutions involving prominent figures, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister said the Madani government remains committed to strengthening governance and combating corruption.
"I do not prosecute anyone, investigations are conducted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the police.
"Prosecution is handled by the Attorney General's Chambers, while the courts decide the outcome," he said in his speech during the opening of the National Training Week 2026 held at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Campus in Permatang Pauh on Saturday (July 25).
Anwar said he is determined to stop abuse of public funds as poor governance has placed a heavy financial burden on the government.
"Felda was once among the world's most successful plantation organisations before political interference and poor management resulted in billions (ringgit) in losses.
"We (the government) have to allocate almost RM1bil annually to service its debts," he said.
Anwar also said he had no objections to making public the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji.
"I have no objections and agree to it but we must follow the process.
“I will table this matter before the Cabinet on Wednesday (July 29) and I believe the Cabinet will agree.
"The report was initially withheld to allow Tabung Haji time to implement reforms and restore public confidence.
"They are now ready to reveal the report publicly.
"Our goal is to build a government that is responsive, accountable and committed to improving the lives of Malaysian," he said.
