KUANTAN: Police have arrested six students who allegedly beat up a schoolmate over the “affairs of the heart” in Rompin.

They were detained at their homes on Wednesday night, said state CID chief Acting Assistant Commissioner Narenasagaran Thangaveloo. All six are Form 5 students of SM Chanis Muadzam Shah.

It is believed that a love triangle between two teenage boys and a girl, led to one of the boys getting together some friends to assault Nurolehwan Shafee, 17, on Tuesday night.

Nurolehwan was sent to the Muadzam Shah Hospital where he was treated for head injuries and bruises, sustained from being hit repeatedly with bricks, broken bottles and a hockey stick.

It is also believed that he had been stepped on and kicked in the stomach.

Six students on four motorcycles had approached him as he was sending an SMS from his mobile phone on a hill near a mosque at Felda Keratong 7.

His brother found him at the scene and took him home.
