DEARER MEDICINE: (April 14) The maximumincrease in price per packet or bottle ofmedicine and prescription drugs from May 1will only be 15sen, said Health Minister Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek. It was announced earlier that medicine and prescription drugs might cost as much as 50sen more per packet or bottle from next month. The increase is due to a Health Ministry directive for all packaging of pharmaceuticals and traditional medicines to have security holograms to curb counterfeits. 

LEARNING TO SERVE: (April 10) The850,000 civil servants in the country will have to attend mandatory courses every year to enhance their efficiency and competency. The courses, to equip the civil servants with the right attitude, skills and knowledge, are also meant to inculcate the lifelong learning culture among government employees.
