Massive porn VCD haul

KAJANG: Police scored a major success in their fight against smut when they seized pornographic video compact discs (VCDs) worth RM253, 000 in a house in Cheras. 

The seizure, involving 25,300 VCDs, was the biggest in the country this year and was made following a tip-off from the public. 

A police team led by Asst Supt Wong Yuen Chuan raided the house in Taman Mudun, Bt 9, at about 3pm on Monday.

Initial investigations revealed that the house was rented out to a man in his 30s a year ago. 

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Gingkoi Seman Pancras said the VCDs, which were yet to be packed, were found in several boxes in the living room and bedrooms. 

“The tenant was not home during the raid. Based on the condition of the house and dead fishes in the aquarium, we believe that the suspect had fled following recent operations to eradicate illegal VCDs. 

“According to the house owner, the tenant had not paid his rent for the last two months,” he said. 

In another raid in Petaling Jaya, police seized about 54,230 illegal DVDs worth some RM1mil from a double-storey house in Taman Puncak Kinrara, Puchong yesterday.  

Also arrested was a 29-year-old man, believed to be a distributor. 

PJ OCPD Senior Asst Comm (II ) Mohd Ghazali said a police team led by Insp Shamsul Nizam Kassir raided the house at about 1.30pm following a tip-off. 

“Based on evidence gathered at the house, we believe that the DVDs were also meant for export to Indonesia and Philippines,” he said.  

SAC (II) Ghazali said that under Ops Banteras Khas, there were 20 teams which were specially set up to eradicate illegal activities such as video game outlets, the distribution of pirated and pornographic VCDs and vice 

During raids conducted in the district the past week, police arrested 37 men and seized 197 gaming machines.
