Motorcyclist dies after being run over by lorry in Hulu Selangor

SHAH ALAM: A senior citizen was killed after he lost control of his motorcycle and was run over by a lorry near a petrol station along Jalan Kantan in Bukit Sentosa, Hulu Selangor, on Tuesday (March 17).

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Ibrahim Husin said initial investigations found that the unladen lorry, driven by a 77-year-old man from Sungai Choh, was heading towards Rawang.

"Upon reaching the traffic light at Persiaran Assalam, the heavy vehicle turned right and the victim, who was behind, attempted to overtake on the left.

"The motorcyclist lost control of his machine, which brushed against the lorry, causing the rider to fall and get run over," he said in a statement on Wednesday (March 18).

He said the accident, which occurred at 3.45pm, saw the 65-year-old victim pronounced dead at the scene from severe head injuries, while the lorry driver was unhurt.

He added that the body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Hospital Kuala Kubu Bharu for a post-mortem.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"Those with information are urged to contact the investigating officer Insp Nurul Anati Zulkifli at 03-60641222 or the nearest police station," he said.
