Ismail Sabri internationalises Myanmar crisis at Unga

MALAYSIAN Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob set a significant diplomatic precedent for Asean when he openly criticised the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Sept 24 for doing too little to help Myanmar’s people escape from the genocidal acts of junta leader General Min Aung Hlaing.

The regional bloc’s diplomatic offensive would have been much more impactful had President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo also addressed the United Nations General Assembly (Unga) in New York last month – shameful for the Indonesian President. He was represented by Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi
