Success in life is not measured solely by position, wealth or recognition, but also by the impact one makes on the people around oneself and the values one upholds along the way.
That was Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) president Prof Datuk Dr Lee Sze Wei’s message to the 2,562 graduates who received their postgraduate, bachelor’s and diploma scrolls during a two-day convocation ceremony from May 23 to 24.
Calling on graduates to retain a lifelong learning mindset to keep up with a constantly evolving future, he urged them to remember the resilience that carried them through their varsity years when faced with challenges.
“There will be moments when you are asked to adapt, to persevere and to make difficult decisions.
“As you move forward, continue to learn, continue to grow, and continue to serve with wisdom, humility and purpose,” he said while delivering his speech at the TAR UMT Kuala Lumpur campus.
During the ceremony, Chong Chia Wei, who completed her Master of Corporate Governance, was awarded the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Prestige Trophy Award for her stellar academic performance and strong student leadership qualities demonstrated during her studies.
“These accomplishments reflect perseverance, discipline and the belief that consistent effort and dedication lead to meaningful achievements.
“Today’s achievements are deeply meaningful and will serve as a strong motivation for me to strive for excellence in my professional journey,” said Chong.
Sarrveendraah N. Gunasegaran, a Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) graduate and recipient of the PwC Award, credited TAR UMT for shaping his personal and professional growth.
Describing his family as his biggest source of support and motivation, he said their encouragement helped him overcome many challenges.
