CHOOSING a tertiary education pathway can be daunting for students and parents.
Questions that emerge often range from programme options and admission requirements to scholarships, campus facilities, student life and career prospects.
To help students make informed decisions, Universiti Malaya (UM) will host its UM Mega Open Day 2026 at the varsity’s Dewan Tunku Canselor on Aug 22 and 23 from 9am to 5pm.
Open to prospective students, parents, guardians, educators and the public, the two-day event will feature faculty and programme exhibitions, one-to-one admission and academic consultations, application guidance and admission support.
Visitors can also attend academic sharing sessions and programme briefings by faculty experts, and obtain information on scholarships and financial aid, student experience and campus life, as well as career pathways and employability.
Students planning undergraduate studies, pursuing postgraduate qualifications or exploring lifelong learning opportunities can discover foundation, diploma, bachelor’s, master’s and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes while engaging with academics, faculty representatives, admissions officers and current students.
In a press release, UM said that as part of the October 2026 intake, eligible applicants who meet the university’s admission requirements may receive an Acknowledgement Letter for selected bachelor’s programmes and an Offer Letter for selected postgraduate programmes.
The letters provide applicants with an early opportunity to begin their academic journey with the varsity, it said.
Noting that education extends beyond the classroom, it added that it aims to develop future-ready graduates, leaders and changemakers who contribute meaningfully to society, guided by values such as knowledge, innovation, diversity and excellence.
It expressed hope that visitors would experience firsthand the community at Malaysia’s oldest university and make informed decisions about their academic future.
