New book on millennial voters a first for TAR UMT

Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) will be launching a book that explores the political minds of Malaysian youth at the varsity’s Kuala Lumpur Campus tomorrow morning (see poster).

Authored by Assoc Prof Datuk Dr Monna Ong Siew Siew who did her Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology programme at the varsity in 2024, “Engaging a Generation: Voting Intention and Political Participation Among Malaysian Millennials” is the first publication by a TAR UMT graduate that originated from a doctoral thesis completed at the institution.

The book launch, which will be officiated by TAR UMT board of governors chairman Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy at Bangunan Tun Tan Siew Sin, will also feature an expert review session.

The expert review aims to provide a non-partisan academic platform to foster constructive public discussion which will delve into youth political participation, civic engagement, and emerging electoral trends in Malaysia.

The goal of the session is to encourage informed, objective dialogue grounded in rigorous research and scholarly reflection.

Panel members are TAR UMT Institute for Research Capacity and Publication director Prof Dr Ananda Kumar Palaniappan, UM Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Professor of History Datuk Dr Danny Wong, and “KeluarSekejap” co-host Shahril Hamdan.
