Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) & Scholarships to study in Taiwan

> The TOCFL will take place at Kuen Cheng High School, Kuala Lumpur, on March 15 (Sat).

> The TOCFL, a standardised assessment tool for evaluating proficiency in Mandarin, is aligned with the the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Proficiency Guidelines.

> The exam in KL is organised by the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Malaysia and Kuen Cheng High School, aiming to inspire a passion for learning Mandarin in Malaysia.

> According to TECO, many undergraduate and graduate programmes at Taiwanese universities require a TOCFL certificate as part of the admission process or as evidence of an applicant’s Chinese language skills.

> The TOCFL certificate can also be a gateway for applying for a Taiwan Scholarship and earning bonus points under the new appraisal system for Overseas Chinese and international students looking to make their mark in Taiwan’s workforce.

> For the 2025 TOCFL in Malaysia, three bands will be available: Band A, Band B and Band C. Each band offers both simplified and traditional Mandarin test papers. Candidates who pass the test will be awarded a certificate from Taiwan’s Education Ministry (MOE), which can serve as a credible reference for Chinese language proficiency in university applications or job searches.

> Candidates can register online at https://tocfl.edu.tw/OS/.

> For group registrations with 10 or more individuals, each candidate will enjoy a 10% discount.

> Separately, TECO is also inviting Malaysian students to apply for the MOE Taiwan Scholarship, the MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship, and the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund Scholarship Programme.
