More education choices
Sunway College’s Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) programme is the most established and largest overseas provider in the world and is supervised by the Western Australian Minister for Education, which awards students the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) upon their graduation.
It is by far the best AUSMAT provider in the country, which makes it an expert in the programme.
AUSMAT graduates gain access to all Australian universities as well as those in the US, the UK, Canada, Singapore and New Zealand. They can also enter local private universities using AUSMAT as part of the undergraduate programmes entry criteria.
Last year, Sunway College chalked up an impressive 214 students who achieved their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 90 and above, while 408 were ranked ATAR 80 or higher.
Sunway College’s Cambridge GCE A-Level programme is another popular choice, as it is the most established, globally recognised pre-university qualification.
Besides just classes, the college additionally guides students using a mentor-mentee system in their academic progress. Such dedicated care helped foster its November cohort last year to achieve full passing rate, and with 50.1% scoring straight As in all subjects.
That positions Sunway College at the strategic forefront with the highest number of A-Level Outstanding Cambridge Learners Award winners in Malaysia.
The Canadian International Matriculation Programme (CIMP) at Sunway College is the only Canadian Year 12 School curriculum in Malaysia that follows the Ontario (Canada) Ministry of Education’s requirements.
The Canadian curriculum ranks as a top English language curriculum in the world and successful CIMP graduates are awarded the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, which is an internationally recognised pre-university qualification.
Last year, 48% of students achieved the Ontario Scholar status, which opens up education opportunities to graduates in over 220 global universities that accept the CIMP.
High school leavers who are set on attending Monash University should consider the Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY), which assists students to become successful undergraduates at that university or even others.
And all of last year’s MUFY graduates qualified for universities, with 58.8% eligible for the Monash University Scholarship. Over 180 students received their Monash University High Achiever Award for achieving an average score of 89% and above.
MUFY is recognised by all Australian universities and some universities in New Zealand and the UK, Malaysian branch campuses of other foreign universities and local private universities.
Sunway also has its own Sunway Foundation Programmes (SFP), which is the Foundation in Arts (FIA) and Foundation in Science & Technology (FIST) that produce the highest number of Sunway University’s First Class Honours graduates.
The FIA creates an academic pathway for students to transition towards a tertiary level studies at Sunway University or to selected local and overseas universities. It empowers students to set personal and academic goals and to identify their individual talents.
FIST students are exposed to strategies for studying tertiary level science, with elements such as using a higher level of language suitable for scientific literature and undergraduate courses.
FIST also encourages enrichment in general knowledge, critical-thinking skills and professional development in the student.
More than 80% of SFP graduates qualified for the Jeffrey Cheah Continuing Scholarship last year.
Also, 47% of the First Class Honours Graduates at Sunway University are FIA alumni 2018 and about 31% graduates achieved CGPA 3.75 and above in the recent March examination.

Postgraduate courses at Sunway University provide students progressive Master’s degree programmes in actuarial science, business management, computer science (by research), human resource management, information systems, life sciences, marketing, psychology, sustainable development management, visual communication and media studies.
Its Doctor of Philosophy courses include biology, computing, psychology, mathematical sciences, business, medical science and creative arts and media.
