WHEN I was growing up in the 1950s, the Father of Malaysia (or Malaya as it was then known), was the Prince of Kedah – Allahyarham Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al Haj.
Malaysians, young and old, loved him, calling out “Tunku! Tunku!” Even the British press referred to Tunku as the “Prince of Malaysia”, or words to that effect.
