I WISH to refer to a complaint I made to Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) that four roads – Jalan Tago, Persiaran KIP Utama, Persiaran KIP 2 and Persiaran Perdana – were riddled with potholes.
I did not take photographs because there were too many potholes there.
I knew that if I only provided a few photos, the council would only patch those in the pictures; others would remain untouched.
But to my disappointment, even though I left it open for them to use their own judgement, the contractor only patched certain parts of the road and left the other potholes unattended.
I had to highlight it several times before MPS started patching the road; yet the resurfacing was not done properly.
I would like to remind the council that they should not wait for funding from the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) every time roads need to be maintained.
Local councils must ensure contractors do the job right the first time, rather than tolerating half-baked work that requires multiple attempts to fix following public complaints.
Stricter oversight is urgently needed to end such substandard repairs.
