BANGI MCA Beliawanis is deeply concerned about the recent accident involving a delivery rider along the route from Kajang to Sungai Merab in Selangor, caused by road buckling and structural sinking.

The incident serves as a stark reminder that poor workmanship on our roads is not merely a technical failure, but a life-threatening hazard.

The substandard quality of previous paving works along this stretch by the Public Works Department (JKR) warrants serious attention.

It is unacceptable that roads, once repaired, can buckle and endanger users.

Taxpayers deserve infrastructure that is durable and safe.

Such poor workmanship reflects a serious lack of oversight and failure to meet engineering standards.

JKR must stop relying on “band-aid” fixes and ensure contractors deliver quality, long-lasting results.

We cannot wait for tragedies before taking road safety seriously; proactive maintenance saves lives.

The local assemblyman and municipal councillors should also be taken to task for their reactive approach.

While repairs have now been carried out, they only came after a rider was injured and the incident went viral.

Why was this hazard ignored until an accident occurred?

Elected representatives have a duty to proactively monitor infrastructure in their constituencies.

Failing to identify and address such dangers beforehand is a neglect of their fundamental responsibility to protect public safety.

We cannot afford to wait for another tragedy.

Bangi MCA Beliawanis urges Kajang residents to remain vigilant.

If anyone encounters uneven roads, recurring potholes or substandard works that pose risks, do not wait for authorities to act.

We encourage residents to escalate these issues directly to us.

We are committed to serving as a watchdog, holding JKR and local councils accountable.

We will compile reports and apply the necessary pressure to ensure our roads are not only built to last, but are built to be safe.
