Setting a national record for rewards programme membership registrations

GUARDIAN Malaysia was conferred the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) title for the “Largest Membership Registrations in a Rewards Programme in a Year”, for its MYguardian Rewards app-based loyalty programme.

The ceremony was held at the newly refurbished Guardian store at Suria KLCC – the brand’s first-ever flagship store – which reopened recently.

Up to March this year, MYguardian Rewards signed up 6.2 million members in its first year. By the end of July, membership had grown to over 7.5 million, which led the company to dedicate the entire month of August to celebrating this milestone with its members.

“We are number one and our rewards programme is big, but more importantly, we have the largest sign-up of members in a year – or, dare I say, the fastest-growing,” said Guardian Malaysia and Brunei managing director Priscilla Wu.

“This signifies the trust of customers and the attractiveness of the personalised experiences behind our MYguardian Rewards programme, unlike any other out there.”

Meanwhile, MBOR chief operating officer Jwan Heah Yeow Hooi commended the company for its achievement.

“Having verified the data submitted to us, we are delighted to announce that MYguardian Rewards’ success in signing up over six million unique members in a single year has set a new record in Malaysia. This success testifies to both the widespread reach of the rewards programme as well as its popularity amongst Malaysians,” he said.

Rewarding ecosystem

MYguardian Rewards is Guardian Malaysia’s all-in-one rewards platform that has redefined how Malaysians shop, save and stay well.

Its one-app experience delivers personalised, instant points earning and rebates, powered by a robust and sophisticated customer intelligence engine.

The platform’s profiling of each shopper enables tailored promotions, exclusive partner campaigns and experiential members-only fiestas.

With more than 80 MYguardian partners across F&B, fashion, beauty, lifestyle and other categories, MYguardian Rewards has an enriching ecosystem that provides members more ways to earn and enjoy their MYpoints.

Month-long celebration

Guardian KLCC’s choice as the venue is fitting as it originally opened in 1998 as the retailer’s first flagship store. It was also the first Guardian store in the Klang Valley with self-checkout counters.

Having undergone refurbishment, the 4,714sq ft store now reopens with experiential elements, warm colour tones and bold signage that enable wayfinding, as well as an enhanced Guardian Picks section alongside the debut of the Embrace Midlife Wellness bay.

This store is also home to approximately 200,000 MYguardian Rewards members who have been shopping there since March last year – making it among the top stores patronised by members.

Just as its 1998 opening was a milestone, the recognition today marks another in Guardian’s journey towards celebrating its Diamond Jubilee next year.

To thank its customers and loyal members, Guardian is marking the occasion with the following promotions which have been ongoing throughout August:

  • MY Beautiful Malaysia campaign offers up to 50% off across 7,300 products store-wide. MYguardian Rewards members earn five times the points for their purchases;
  • Since Aug 6, MYguardian Rewards members spending RM200 and above in a single receipt will receive a free portable USB heated flask with a warmer bag (available in three designs);
  • There is also an exclusive Guardian x Fiziwoo batik-inspired tote bag collection that comes in two designs. Non-members can purchase the bags at RM29.90, while members can purchase them at RM19.90 or by redeeming 2,800 MYpoints; and
  • For MYguardian Rewards members who patronise the Guardian KLCC store, a selection of full-sized health, wellness and beauty products are available at a special promotional price of RM1 only. This promotion runs from Aug 27-31, while stocks last.

Wu added that the company could not have achieved the milestone without its team members, suppliers, brand partners and most importantly, its customers.

“MBOR’s recognition strengthens our commitment to continue delivering meaningful value, rewards and personalised experiences to our members.

“We’ll continue innovating and enhancing the rewards ecosystem so that MYguardian Rewards will remain the favourite platform for Malaysians nationwide,” concluded Wu.
