Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) plans to build a RM6mil digital command centre to consolidate its online services and improve accessibility.
Its deputy president Hasrolnizam Shaari said work was expected to begin in 2027, with completion within two years.
“At present, we have numerous online systems and services, but they are fragmented and managed separately by different departments.
“We hope to bring them together under one centre to make our services easier to manage.
“The facility will be equipped with multimedia systems to help us monitor slopes and traffic conditions, among others,” he said.
It will be housed at MPAJ’s headquarters in Pandan Indah.
Another major project, also expected to start next year, will see 100 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed at selected roads and intersections to improve traffic monitoring.
Hasrolnizam said the local council had also spent RM19mil this year on projects to upgrade public facilities.
These included refurbishing community halls and food courts that were between 20 and 30 years old.
“These premises are no longer equipped to cope with the number of people using them today.
“Many require improvements to their ventilation and acoustics,” said Hasrolnizam.
As part of efforts to encourage a healthier lifestyle among residents, several public fields have also been earmarked for refurbishment, including those in Taman Kosas and Pandan Indah, he said.
Hasrolnizam was speaking to reporters at a prize-giving ceremony for winners of a lucky draw at MPAJ Convention Centre in Taman Melawati, Hulu Kelang, Selangor.
The contest was open to Ampang Jaya property owners who paid their 2026 assessment taxes in full by the end of February and had no arrears.
Participants were also required to register their properties on MPAJ’s iComm platform, with more than 4,400 property owners meeting the eligibility criteria.
Winners took home prizes ranging from electrical appliances and fitness equipment to motorcycles, while the grand-prize winner drove home a Proton e.MAS 7.
Hasrolnizam said MPAJ had recorded an income surplus for the past three years.
“We have recorded a surplus of RM25mil each year and we expect this trend to continue in the coming years.
“We decided to channel some of that money back to the community by using it to fund infrastructure upgrading projects.”
