NEWLY elected Tangkak assemblyman Datuk Haw Chin Teck has made addressing water supply issues in the constituency one of his priorities.
He had received numerous complaints from voters during the state election campaign, which he said included low water pressure, unstable supply, burst pipes and murky water in several areas, including Taman Pelangi, Taman Tangkak Jaya, Payamas and several villages.
“I made it one of my priorities to meet with Ranhill SAJ representatives to raise issues, better understand the situation and discuss possible solutions,” he said after the discussion with the water concessionaire.
“Ranhill SAJ will complete an investigation into the water supply situation in Tangkak within a month or so, before submitting a report on proposed improvements.”
During the meeting, Ranhill SAJ representatives gave Haw and his team a briefing on the current water supply, whereby about 12 million litres per day (MLD) of water is supplied to Tangkak.
Haw said short-, medium- and long-term measures were also discussed, including having additional water tankers and static water tanks, optimisation of the water supply system and construction of large-scale storage tanks.
“Replacement of three to four old pipelines will also be given priority, particularly in Kampung Seri Makmor and Payamas, to reduce burst-pipe incidents and improve supply stability.
“Ranhill SAJ also informed us that murky water had been caused by sediment, with pipe- cleaning works to be carried out.”
Haw said he would monitor the situation and ensure implementation of the improvements.
