THE condition of an access road linking Medan Niaga Kepong in Kuala Lumpur to the KTM Segambut station has improved after concerns were raised over rubbish and clutter at the site.
The stretch near Jalan Udang Harimau 1 in Segambut Bahagia was earlier highlighted by Kepong community activist Yee Poh Ping.
In a StarMetro article on July 15, he had said that the road should be upgraded to improve connectivity and prevent the area from becoming a rubbish dumping ground.
At the time, Yee said parts of the road were muddy and uneven, with potholes, water ponding, rubbish and clutter from workshops, stores and recycling activities seen piled along the route.
Recent checks found that rubbish and discarded materials along parts of the road has since been cleared.
Updated photographs of the site showed a cleaner stretch beneath the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE).
In an e-mailed statement, DUKE concessionaire said the situation on the ground had improved from the earlier reported condition.
Yee had previously urged Kuala Lumpur City Hall to coordinate with relevant agencies, including the highway concessionaire and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd, to look into long-term improvements for the route.
