KUALA LUMPUR: The Bandar Tun Razak Parliamentary Office hosted the Majlis Raya Karyawan Bersama Komuniti Sejahtera at Kompleks Sukan Desa Tasik at Bandar Tasik Selatan, bringing together approximately 1,500 members of the community in a lively and inclusive celebration.

The event was co-organised with the Malaysian Artistes' Association (Karyawan) and sponsored by Big Caring Group through Big Pharmacy and Caring Pharmacy, as part of efforts to strengthen community ties through Hari Raya celebrations while promoting social wellbeing and public health.

The event was officiated by the Member of Parliament for Bandar Tun Razak Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Dr Wan Ismail. Also present were Prime Minister’s political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin, Karyawan president Datuk Freddie Fernandez and Big Caring Group chief operating officer Chong Yeow Siang.

In her address, Dr Wan Azizah highlighted the importance of initiatives that go beyond celebration, noting that programmes like this play a role in promoting community welfare and wellbeing in a holistic manner.

“As the MP for Bandar Tun Razak, I have always emphasised that good health is the foundation of a thriving community.

“When the community is healthy, they are able to lead better lives, support their families and contribute to community development.

“I hope initiatives such as this event can serve as a catalyst in encouraging healthier lifestyles, as well as strengthen awareness on the importance of taking care of one’s health,” she said.

The event featured various activities, including a festive Hari Raya gathering, performances by artists such as Datuk Ramli Sarip and Datuk Khaty Ibrahim, as well as community and health-focused activities organised by Big Caring Group through Big Pharmacy and Caring Pharmacy. Highlights included basic health screenings, pharmacist consultations, interactive family games and fitness-related activities such as body composition analysis and children’s health checks.

The highlight of the event was the launch of the Telehealth Kiosk for the Bandar Tun Razak Parliamentary Office, officiated by Dr Wan Azizah. The Telehealth Kiosk is a long-term initiative aimed to improve access to basic healthcare services for the community.

The Telehealth Kiosk offers a digital health facility that enables users to conduct essential health checks such as height and weight, body composition, body temperature, blood pressure and blood oxygen levels within minutes. The health data is automatically uploaded to the Big Pharmacy app, with options to email or print reports, as well as connect with a doctor via teleconsultation and arrange for prescription fulfilment and medication delivery.

Chong said, “Through Big Pharmacy and Caring Pharmacy, we are proud to support initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to the community.

“A community pharmacy’s role is to improve access to healthcare, build trust with the community, and support individuals in making better-informed decisions about their health. “The provision of the Telehealth Kiosk is part of our effort to bring healthcare services closer to the community, in line with current needs,”

As part of its community outreach efforts, Big Caring Group contributed RM20,000 to the Malaysian Artistes’ Association in support of the welfare of artists and members of the creative industry. The contribution reflects recognition of the important role the arts community plays in shaping Malaysia’s cultural identity, while supporting welfare efforts for those in need.

In addition, Big Caring Group distributed 140 Rahmah Donation Boxes to the Federal Territories Residents’ Representative Council, Bandar Tun Razak Zone, for distribution to families in need within the parliamentary constituency.

The event underscores the value of collaboration between public, private and community organisations in delivering meaningful support at the grassroots level to support community wellbeing through initiatives that combine health, welfare and active community engagement. It not only strengthens ties between organisations and the local community, but also contributes to building a healthier and more resilient society.
