A NEW RM10mil six-storey carpark has opened at a Seremban hospital, providing an extra 310 parking bays for visitors.

This brings the total to 450 parking bays at the CMH Specialist Hospital.

Owned by the non-profit Negri Sembilan Chinese Maternity Association (NSCMA), its president Datuk Seri Lee Tian Hock said it would help boost patient welfare.

“Since assuming the role of president in December 2013, I have always upheld the guiding principle to strengthen the hospital, enhance services and ensure the community benefits.

“This initiative is part of our long-term effort to meet the challenges of a changing healthcare environment and to ensure the hospital remains financially sustainable for the next 50 years.”

Lee thanked Chung Hua High School and SJK (C) Kuo Min for letting the hospital use their grounds as a temporary carpark.

He said the multi-storey carpark was long overdue as the shortage of parking bays inconvenienced patients and visitors.

“Its completion is only one chapter in the hospital’s development journey, as we are about to embark on an even larger project.

“In September, we will commence the second phase of our expansion plan which is the construction of a 10-storey integrated medical block,” he said, adding that it would involve the demolition of the existing blocks A and C in April.

The second phase will cost around RM120mil, with completion expected in September 2029.

“This new development will further expand the hospital’s specialist services and specialist clinics, enhance our medical technology capabilities and strengthen the overall capacity of the hospital,” Lee said, highlighting that hospital beds will increase to 166.

He added that NSCMA has been helping the poor with medical costs irrespective of race, including the Rohingya community.
