Former Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou says his best work is still ahead of him, despite a bruising spell of recent setbacks.
Postecoglou lasted only 39 days at Forest before being sacked last October, following a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea that left the club in 17th place in the Premier League, Reuters reported.
He had earlier guided Spurs to the Europa League title in May, ending a 17‑year trophy drought.
“I want to win things. I still have that drive and passion to achieve – that has not changed,” Postecoglou, 60, told SEN radio.
“Wherever I go in, there will be plenty of scepticism.
“I know whatever it is going to be, I have this thing in my head that this will be the best one I’ve done yet; the recent experiences, maybe I needed them.”
The Australian said he was unconcerned about any damage to his reputation in England and insisted he had learned from his previous stints.
“You can’t always be flying high and successful.
“Sometimes you need to cop a couple of whacks,” he said.
“It didn’t work out.
“It’s probably hurt me reputationally, probably here (in the English game) for sure, but I don’t worry about that.”
Meanwhile, a 60-year-old man who posted racist messages online about England women’s defender Jess Carter has received a suspended jail sentence.
The man sent two posts during Euro 2025 last summer from his TikTok account under the username “Bogeyman”.
Blackburn Magistrates’ Court sentenced him to six weeks’ jail, suspended for 12 months.
He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to sending a grossly offensive message via a public communi-cations network.
