A refurbished resort along scenic Balok Beach, a 30-minute drive from Kuantan, Pahang, has been awarded a Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) five-star classification.

The certificate was presented by Motac secretary-general Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot to Swiss-Grand Beach Resort Kuantan represented by OSK Holdings Bhd executive director Datuk Saiful Bahri Zainuddin.

Saiful Bahri said the certification symbolised the resort’s successful transition to its new identity, marking a milestone in coastal luxury and enhanced hospitality offerings on Malaysia’s east coast.

“We are deeply honoured by this five-star certification, which is testament to the efficient management and diligent efforts of our team.

“This milestone marks a significant evolution for the property, which has been in operation since 1998.

“We remain committed to working with local, state and federal authorities to further elevate the standards of tourism in Pahang and across Malaysia,” he said.

Swiss-Garden International chief operating officer Ivan Ting said that as the first property to carry the Swiss-Grand name in Malaysia, the 306-room resort was charting a bold new direction for Swiss-Garden International.

“The introduction of the Swiss-Grand brand signifies an important step in our portfolio’s growth.

“The Kuantan resort was given a comprehensive refurbishment to become a coastal retreat that balances modern sophistication with genuine Malaysian warmth. We look forward to welcoming guests with heartfelt hospitality,” he added.

Also present at the event were Motac infrastructure development division secretary Mohd Khairul Kassim and Pahang Motac director Mohd Fharid Saidu.
