A NEWLY installed arch marks the site and welcomes visitors to Klang’s “Bazar Aidilfitri Jalan Taiping”.

Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) deputy mayor Mohd Zary Affendi Mohd Arif performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the arch located at Jalan Nangka, off Jalan Pasar.

“We put it up as a decorative structure to help promote sales and welcome customers to the bazaar,” he said of the arch that cost about RM20,000.

Mohd Zary Affendi said the city council had issued 343 stall licences for the site.

“The bazaar is open from 5pm to midnight, and sales will continue until the eve of Hari Raya.

“We want to turn this place into a major attraction for food, culture and shopping, like Melaka’s Jonker Walk,” he said.

The annual bazaar is popular for Hari Raya shopping.

“The bazaar attracts people from all walks of life, with foreigners also impressed by the variety of goods, food and drinks,” said Mohd Zary Affendi.

Meanwhile, he reminded Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaar traders to always maintain good quality and cleanliness at their trading spaces, while shoppers should minimise single-use plastics to support the city’s sustainability campaign.
