PETALING Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has rolled out a recycling initiative that rewards participants with meals.

The campaign, “Ramadan On Wheels@PJ”, is being held for the first time, said MBPJ Licensing Department director Sharinaz Samsudin.

“This year’s budget theme is Lestari dan Prihatin (Sustainable and Caring).

“This initiative embodies its caring aspect as it benefits B40 communities,” she said at the Ramadan On Wheels@PJ event at Pangsapuri Idaman in Damansara Damai.

Only plastic and aluminium recyclables are accepted under the campaign.

For every 1kg of recyclables, participants can redeem Menu A, worth RM80, for five people.

The set consists of briyani rice, mutton curry, honey chicken, kicap beef and roti canai.

For every 750g of recyclables, participants can redeem Menu B, worth RM60, for three people.

The set includes briyani rice, mutton curry, honey chicken and roti canai.

Menu C is offered for every 500g of recyclables, worth RM50, for three people.

The set consists of briyani rice, honey chicken, kicap beef and roti canai.

MBPJ is collaborating with Restaurant Syed Bistro and Restaurant Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar for the initiative.

“The collected items will be sent to recycling companies or agents registered with MBPJ,” said Sharinaz.

The programme has also been held at Baiduri Apartment in Section 51A, Gugusan Semarak Apartment in Kota Damansara, PPR Lembah Subang 2 (Block B) and PPR Kota Damansara (Block C).

The next location will be at Desa Mentari Block 11 on March 13.

It is open to the public and anyone can participate, not only residents in the specified area, Sharinaz added.
