TWO unlicensed plastic and metal processing factories in Telok Gong, Port Klang were fined RM4,000 for operating illegally during random inspections by local authorities.

A nearby unlicensed yard used for storing heavy machinery was also slapped with a RM2,000 fine for operating without a permit and displaying an unlicensed outdoor advertisement board.

Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) Corporate Communications Department director Norfiza Mahfiz said the penalties followed a series of inspections on several premises in the area.

“Under city by-laws, compounds were issued to owners for not having valid business and advertisement licences.”

She said officers found that the factories were involved in compressing scrap plastic and metal.

It is understood that the premises had been operating for less than a year.

Norfiza said the operators had blatantly ignored local regulations despite earlier warnings.

“Our enforcement officers had previously instructed the factory and yard managers to apply for the licences.

“The compounds were issued as a result of their failure to comply,” she said.

Separately in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, an unlicensed spa housing a reflexology and massage centre was fined RM4,000 for operating without a valid business licence and having unlicensed outdoor advertisement boards.

Norfiza added that the city council would continue to conduct regular checks on premises across the city to ensure all businesses complied with the law.
