Festive cheer filled the air as the Lions Club of Damansara Kuala Lumpur marked the 25th anniversary of its Chinese New Year charity luncheon, hosting 1,250 guests in a grand display of community spirit.

The milestone event, held at a banquet hall in Kuala Lumpur, brought together club members, donors and beneficiaries in a long-standing tradition of festive giving.

Among the attendees were 460 elderly residents and children from 25 charity homes across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

In a press statement, organising chairman Kelvin Kau credited the event’s enduring success to the collective efforts of supporters and donors.

He announced that each of the 25 homes would receive a RM1,500 donation, totalling RM37,500 in cash aid.

In addition, the club presented seven automated external defibrillators (AEDs) worth RM49,000 to its partner-in-service St John Ambulans Malaysia, Selangor, to strengthen emergency response capabilities.

Club president Richard Chung wished guests a prosperous Year of the Horse and highlighted the club’s active volunteer base.

He said the club’s 70 members remained committed to serving underprivileged communities across the Klang Valley.

Since July 2025, the club has completed more than 20 service projects focusing on hunger relief, education, environmental conservation and other humanitarian initiatives.

Guest of honour and Lions Clubs International District 308B1 governor Sek Jin Han commended the club for its consistency.

He said maintaining such a meaningful initiative for 25 years required strong teamwork and donor support.

The celebration featured an energetic lion dance performance, an appearance by the God of Prosperity distributing ang pow, traditional vocal performances and a face-changing act.

Guests were also treated to a special performance by singer Yao Yi.

Also present were Lions Clubs International international director Datuk Yeow Wah Chin, District 309 Singapore governor Chia Lai Soon and 70 members from sister clubs in Singapore, Indonesia and China.

Established in 1978, the Lions Club of Damansara Kuala Lumpur is part of District 308B1 Malaysia.
