Representatives of charity homes with the RM1,500 donation presented by Lions Club of Damansara Kuala Lumpur representatives.

Every year, Lions Club of Damansara Kuala Lumpur celebrates Chinese New Year with the elderly and orphans.

This tradition has been going on for 24 years.

This year, the association held a luncheon at SJK (C) Choong Wen, Jalan Kelang Lama, Kuala Lumpur.

It hosted 100 tables and had 1,000 guests including 350 old folks and children from 20 charity homes in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

Organising chairman Steven Chew welcomed guests and thanked all sponsors for their generosity.

He also expressed his gratitude to all the homes’ volunteers for bringing the old folks and children.

Club president Kelvin Kau said the organisation completed more than 20 humanitarian, education and healthcare projects since last July, benefitting needy communities.

He also thanked Tai Sun Lim Kee Food Industries Sdn Bhd for sponsoring food items for all 350 attendees from the 20 homes.

To add excitement to the event, there was a lion dance and the appearance by the God of Prosperity who distributed ang pow all around.

Other entertainment programmes included Latin dances and a special performance by singer Yao Yi.

Each of the homes also received a donation of RM1,500, totaling RM30,000.

Also present were about 50 members from clubs such as Lions Club of Singapore Clarke Quay, Lions Club of Jakarta Mutiara Prima, Indonesia as well as Lions Club of Guandong Foshan Eagle.
