PROPERTY developer H&A Holdings Sdn Bhd and the SJK(T) Ladang Jalan Acob school board (LPS) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the relocation and redevelopment of the school at the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) on Jan 19.

H&A Holdings has committed approximately 1.29ha of land in Kapar, Klang, for the primary school’s relocation as an exchange and relocation arrangement.

The company will construct the school building, which will comprise a total of 12 rooms.

Six of these will be classrooms, while the remaining rooms will serve as ancillary and utility spaces necessary for basic school operations.

The building will be constructed on a portion of approximately 1.09ha of land, with a total development cost of up to RM1.8mil.

This plan has been mutually agreed upon by H&A Holdings and the school’s LPS.

The remaining approximately 0.2ha of land has been set aside for the school’s future expansion.

“We hope all matters proceed smoothly for our collective interests, especially for the schoolchildren and local community,” said H&A Holdings representative Siti Maisarah Misrom.

She added that the company is committed to the project because education is a cornerstone in shaping the future of the next generation.

Currently, SJK(T) Ladang Jalan Acob operates on land owned by H&A Holdings. Once the relocation is completed, the existing site will be returned to the company.

The MOU aims to address long-standing challenges, such as frequent flooding, the school faces due to its current location.

SJK(T) Ladang Jalan Acob LPS chairman Ramachandran Raman said repeated floods had damaged school buildings, computers and teaching equipment, making the current site unsuitable for learning.

“Every time it rains, our hearts are heavy, thinking about the safety and future of the children.

“Our focus is to ensure every student learns in a safe, comfortable, and dignified environment,” he said.

“This MOU marks the beginning of a major transformation. It is not just physical development, but a symbol of hope and opportunity for future generations,” said Ramachandran, adding that he hopes the collaboration continues to benefit students for many years.

Speaking on the importance of multi-level collaboration, Selangor human resources and poverty eradication committee chairman Papparaidu Veraman emphasised that initiatives like this should serve as a model for the private sector and government representatives to work together in supporting educational development.

“This initiative highlights the importance of proactive partnerships. I also thank the mayor, teachers and council members for helping to resolve this matter effectively,” he said.

In addition to new facilities, the school will benefit from a zoning change.

The current site is classified as an industrial zone, which is unsuitable for a school.

The new location in a residential zone will allow more local children to attend in the future, Papparaidu said.

Klang mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain added: “The collaboration between government, school, community and the corporate sector is a model that should be replicated.

“Education development is a shared responsibility. The city council fully supports initiatives that enhance public welfare and align with the city’s social development agenda.

“Education is the foundation of a knowledgeable society, and investment in education benefits future generations.”

The MOU represents an important milestone, providing the school with a safer, long-term location, while allowing the existing land to be developed in a planned and efficient manner.

The signing was witnessed by Papparaidu and Abd Hamid.

Representatives from the Education Ministry, state education department, district education office, and city councillors were also present at the event.
