THE public can now travel to popular attractions around Johor Baru for free, following the launch of a new shuttle bus service.
Johor works, transportation, infrastructure and communications committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh said the free service, which began on Jan 1, was also available to tourists.
“The service available daily between 8am and 8pm involves three buses, each with the capacity to ferry about 20 passengers at a time.”
The route has stops at eight tourist attractions around the city, he said.
“The route begins at the Jotic building and ends at Kota Jail, but users can board or alight at any of the eight stops along the way.
“This will also allow tourists to visit other attractions within walking distance, as several other points of interest are located near these stops.”
The Jotic building is the Johor Tourist Information Centre.
“Other tourist attractions included in the route were the 0km landmark, Johor Baru City Square, Galleria Kotaraya, Sultan Ibrahim Building, Sultan Abu Bakar Heritage Complex and Johor Zoo,” said Mohamad Fazli.
“It may be expanded to include more buses in the future, depending on demand and needs,” he said.
The state executive councillor said the initiative under the Johor Public Transport Corporation, in collaboration with Tourism Johor, was among efforts to enhance the Visit Johor and Malaysia 2026 campaigns.
To ensure that the public are aware of the new amenity, information about the service, including the bus schedule, will be made available at all stops.
“Information on the service will also be shared on all social media platforms of the Johor Public Transport Corporation and Tourism Johor,” said Mohamad Fazli.
“With this initiative we hope that both locals and visitors can explore Johor Baru and places of interest around it, more conveniently,” he added.
