FOLLOWING eye screenings in November, 39 primary school pupils in Seremban, Negri Sembilan were identified for corrective eyewear.

The pupils from SK Seremban 2A and Program Pendidikan Khas Integrasi (PPKI) in Seremban 2, received their free prescription glasses during a handover ceremony under IJM Land’s FOCUS4Sight School Vision Care pilot programme, in partnership with Focus Point.

Also present at the event were IJM Land (Seremban 2) assistant general manager Yeoh Oon Tat, SK Seremban 2A senior administrative assistant Zulkifli Awang, the pupils and teachers.

Besides free eye screening and prescription glasses, eye health awareness talks were also conducted under the programme.

“Clear vision makes a world of difference to a child’s confidence in the classroom. When students can see comfortably, they can focus, engage and participate more fully,” said IJM Land chief operating officer Datuk Chai Kian Soon in a statement.

“Our commitment is to make sure no child is held back by something as treatable as vision impairment.

“Through this collaborative effort, students can now see more clearly, giving them every opportunity to learn confidently and succeed,” he said.

The programme was part of IJM Land’s mission to build holistic communities within its townships, nurturing education, health and personal development.

SK Seremban 2A was the first public primary school to benefit, with plans underway to expand the initiative to more schools nationwide.
