A factory in Klang Sentral Industrial Park is fined RM1,000 for releasing dust and smoke into the environment.
KLANG Royal City Council (MBDK) has issued fines totalling RM2,000 to two factories in Klang Sentral Industrial Park and Sungai Kapar Indah for environmental pollution.
Corporate Communications Department director Norfiza Mahfiz said inspections carried out at an industrial lot in Sentral Industrial Park found that the operations had caused dust to be released into the environment, as well as an unpleasant smell.
Following MBDK’s inspection the factory, involved in processing of aluminium ingots, was found to have violated council by-laws.
Norfiza added that residents had complained about smoke and an unpleasant smell, particularly in the late evenings.
“MBDK issued two compounds where the operator was fined RM1,000 under By-laws 32 (MBDK) 2007 for releasing smoke and dust.
“It was also issued a fine of RM250 under Section 46(1)(d) of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974, which prohibits obstruction in public spaces, as items were stored outside the premises,” she said.
Norfiza added that the operation comprised personnel from the city council’s enforcement and licensing departments.
In another operation at Sungai Kapar Indah, officers found an industrial lot that carried out similar activities of processing aluminium into ingots, causing smoke and dust pollution.
Norfiza said MBDK issued the company a fine of RM1,000, also under By-laws 32 (MBDK) 2007.
