FOR many households, ironing school uniforms is a daily race against the clock.
A new Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) feat has now put the spotlight on innovations aimed at making that routine quicker and easier.
Philips Domestic Appliances Malaysia set a new benchmark with its MBOR achievement for ironing the most number of school shirts in 60 minutes.
The record attempt was undertaken by Philips-appointed “Ironman” creative consultant and stylist Nik Erwan Nik Roseli, who ironed 49 school shirts in an hour with the Philips PerfectCare Steam Generator.
Philips Domestic Appliances Malaysia commercial director Patt Sue-Ann said the company aimed to develop products that address everyday household challenges.
“In Malaysia, ironing school uniforms can be time-consuming for many families.
“With the newly upgraded Philips PerfectCare Steam Generator, we create solutions that help people live better, save time and enjoy more meaningful moments with their loved ones,” she said during the feat at the Harvey Norman MidValley Kuala Lumpur flagship store.
She added that for the purpose of setting a new record, Philips focused on the short-sleeved shirts worn by boys and girls.
“As of January 2026, the Education Ministry in Malaysia estimated about five million children under 18 are attending schools.
“Philips wants to be part of that journey to ease the responsibility that is mainly put upon parents.”

MBOR spokesperson Megat Faris Megat Muzaffar Shah was tasked to assess and judge the challenge before officially declaring the official record.
He said any brand that had been awarded an MBOR title would benefit from strengthened Malaysian consumer trust.
Also present was MBOR chief operating officer Jwan Heah, alongside personalities including Norreen Iman, Catriona Ross and Kenzo Katarmo.
