A trip to the Harvey Norman Mid Valley flagship store for a vacuum cleaner turned into a festive windfall for married couple Giritharan Nadarajan, 34, and Geetha Vijeekumaran, 32.
Originally priced over RM1,000 for a new appliance, the pair was pleasantly surprised to find themselves eligible for steep discounts as the store kicked off “The Big Christmas Sale”, leaving them with extra cash and holiday cheer.
“We initially wanted to get a vacuum cleaner for our new house in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur and only found out about the sale while shopping at the store.
“After discounts, it was about RM600 and we were very happy with the great bargain.
“We are still refurbishing our house and look forward to moving in,” said Geetha, a human resources professional.
The duo also participated in the Guarantee Sure Win game, winning RM50 Harvey Norman vouchers.

The two-day activation event treated shoppers to live demonstrations of Tefal kitchen appliances and Teka induction hob across three sessions daily.
Shoppers who spent more than RM300 over the weekend were eligible to participate in the Santa’s Socks Surprise Lucky Draw where they paid only RM1 to stand a chance to win prizes worth over RM10,000.
Prizes included a Philips 32-inch smart TV, buffet dinner for two at Contango, The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Toshiba microwave oven, Khind air fryer, LG wireless subwoofer and soundbar, JBL portable waterproof speaker and Hilker Comfort Feel Pillow.
Those who spent RM300 were guaranteed instant sure-win prizes of Harvey Norman vouchers ranging from RM10 to RM500.

These included Samsung microwave oven, Dyson Supersonic Nural hair dryer, Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 Butterbear and Fujitec Norway Sofa Massage Chair, to see which one was the most loved item for a gift among Malaysians.
Shoppers also tried Fujitec’s wellness range including the Sofa Massage Chair, Aria Eye Massager and Omega Foot Massager.
