Guiati and his wife, Kavita Sidhu, at Senibong Cove in Johor Bahru during the launch of another Roberto’s restaurant.
FOR Roberto Guiati, opening a new restaurant is more than just serving food, it is about sharing his heritage and creating a space where people can come together.
The founder of Roberto’s restaurant believes that food is a universal language.
“The latest outlet at Senibong Cove marks my sixth in Malaysia and reflects my ongoing mission to bring authentic Italian cuisine to more communities.
“The waterfront location provides a setting that combines scenic beauty with the warmth and authenticity of Italian hospitality.”
He was recently bestowed the Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy, one of Italy’s highest honours, for promoting Italian culture abroad.
“This award recognises my longstanding contribution to strengthening Malaysian-Italian cultural ties through gastronomy, hospitality and community engagement.
“Italian ambassador to Malaysia Raffaele Langella congratulated me on the distinction, commending the brand’s commitment to promoting true Italian culture and excellence in this country.”
The restaurant opening drew notable guests including Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Langella, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo and actor Shaun Chen.
“I am humbled by the support from Johor and beyond.
“This launch represents our passion, heritage and promise to continue delivering exceptional Italian cuisine to our guests.”
Guiati said that creating a welcoming space is just as important as the food itself because it allows people to linger and enjoy the experience together.
“Since opening the first outlet in Kuala Lumpur, Roberto’s has grown into a premium dining brand known for artisanal pizzas, house-made pastas curated wines and warm hospitality.
“The expansion into Johor marks a significant step in our mission to offer world-class Italian dining across the country,” he said, adding that he has plans to open more outlets.
