EMPLOYEES of a real estate investment holding company participated in a hands-on, two-day workshop to build and assemble classroom furniture that was donated to a school in Shah Alam, Selangor.
The corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative saw Pelaburan Hartanah Bhd (PHB) working in collaboration with social enterprise Epic Homes through the latter’s “The Good Builder” programme.
More than 30 PHB employees participated in the workshop that involved assembling classroom furniture as part of a teambuilding and volunteer effort.
The newly built items, which included desks, chairs and storage units, were gifted to SK Jalan U3 in Subang Perdana, Shah Alam.
This initiative was expected to benefit more than 1,000 pupils by fostering a more comfortable and conducive learning environment.
The effort also served as a meaningful employee volunteerism platform, reflecting PHB’s core values of “professional, harmonious and bold”, while reinforcing the group’s belief in fostering positive social impact beyond the workplace.
Through this hands-on experience, employees had the opportunity to collaborate, build practical skills and contribute to enriching learning spaces for the school community.
PHB’s group managing director and chief executive officer Mohamad Damshal Awang Damit said the initiative reflected the group’s commitment to contributing towards education and nation-building through CSR programmes that encourage employee participation.
“Education plays a key role in shaping future talent and strengthening communities,” he said.
“This initiative demonstrates the value of volunteerism and the importance of cultivating a supportive environment for learning, growth and human development.”
Mohamad Damshal said the group was pleased to be part of a programme that empowered its employees to give back to the community in a practical and impactful way.
He added that PHB aimed to broaden its education-focused CSR programmes by creating more opportunities for employee volunteerism and strengthening meaningful engagement within the communities.
