THE Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) is in talks with the local Mini car club to use the Mini Moke and/or Clubman for tours on Klang’s Heritage Trail.

Mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain said they would take tourists on a nostalgic journey while delighting fans of the Mini.

He said the cars were initially used for a sightseeing tour at Karnival Citra Warna @ Jambatan Kota Klang in September and again during Klang’s second anniversary celebration as a city on Nov 23.

Some 3,000 visitors enjoyed various activities including riding in the Minis on Jalan Istana, traditional performances and colouring contests.

Asked when the chauffeured tours would start, Abd Hamid said: “It could be sometime in mid-February 2026.”

Klang’s Heritage Trail, covering around 3km, highlights 11 key attractions such as Istana Alam Shah, the official palace of the Sultan of Selangor, the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, Gedung Raja Abdullah, colonial landmarks and places of worship.

“These tours would provide a novel way to see the city’s sights,” said Klang councillor Lt (Rtd) Mohd Fauzi Othman.

Councillor Annie Syazrin Ismail said the Mini was iconic hence it would make a great ambassador for the city.

When asked for his thoughts on the second anniversary, Abd Hamid said that becoming a city had breathed new life into Klang.

“This second MBDK anniversary celebration symbolises our commitment to continue driving progress, strengthening governance and enhancing the quality of life for residents.”
