A HUGE crowd of burger fans gathered for a Deepavali open house at the McDonald’s drive-thru in Bandar Puteri Klang, Selangor, enjoying a Spicy Chicken McDeluxe with apple pie and soft drink.
Drums reverberated and dancers swayed while popular Malaysian singers Santesh Kumar, Amos Paul, Yogi B (a hip hop artiste) and Balan Kash (a rapper) entertained.
Children from Trinity Community Children’s Home in Section 7, Petaling Jaya, accompanied by minder Francis Hew, also joined the celebration which included games and culminated with a spectacular fireworks display.
McDonald’s Malaysia managing director and local operating partner Datuk Azmir Jaafar said Deepavali was more than just a festivity, it was about celebrating the country’s diversity and unity.
“As a brand that has grown alongside Malaysians, we take pride in celebrating every culture and community that makes up our nation.
“Deepavali is a wonderful reminder of how light, kindness and togetherness can bring us all closer.
“We are grateful to our crew, partners and volunteers who made this celebration meaningful for so many.”
Also present were McDonald’s Malaysia senior vice-president and chief impact officer Melati Abd Hai; McDonald’s Malaysia (construction) director Kumaran Muthu; McDonald’s Caltex Bandar Puteri Klang DT franchisee Simon Yap and Taman Sri Andalas Klang Fire and Rescue Department senior fireman (1) Syamsuri Mohd Zain.
