Exco urges businesses to work with state government to make Selangor a role model in senior care
ARTIFICIAL intelligence (AI) will be incorporated into the management of a charity home for women to ensure the health and well-being of its senior residents.
Selangor investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han said with AI technologies, suitable activities could be planned for residents of SKGV Charity Home in Kuala Lumpur to allow them to be more active.
“The lifestyle of senior citizens has changed over time.
“We must stay abreast of the times when it comes to managing the home,” Sze Han said during the 33rd Senior Citizen Day and SKGV Charity Home’s 88th anniversary luncheon at a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur.
Sze Han urged people to start paying attention to senior care as Selangor was projected to become an aged state within 10 to 20 years.
“Selangor government has prepared by launching the care economy policy last November.
“It aims to turn senior care into a sector with economic potential to attract investors.
“All parties, particularly businesses, should work together with the state government to make Selangor a role model in the senior care sector.
“If you start dealing with senior care today, you will also be preparing for your own future as all of us will eventually become senior citizens.”
SKGV Charity Home provides shelter for single women aged 65 and above.
It was officially recognised by Selangor government on Sept 23, 1937, and all Chinese executive councillors in the state are automatically appointed the home’s trustees, according to Sze Han.
At the event, the attendees were greeted by a lion dance performance before lunch.
They were then entertained by singers, dancers, performances of diabolo and traditional Chinese musical instruments, and Wushu displays throughout the afternoon.
Malaysian singer Desmond Liew also delivered a performance.
Also present were Seri Kembangan assemblyman Wong Siew Ki, Selangor local government and tourism committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim, Selangor King George V Silver Jubilee Fund trustee and exco chairman Datuk Seri Yong Seng Yeow and trustee and exco member Desmond Yong, and Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) Zone 16 councillor Lee Jen Uyin.
Sze Han, Wong, Suee Lim and Lee are also SKGV Charity Home trustees.
