A NIGHT of music and performances marked the start of construction for the RM850mil Wolo Hotel and Residences Mont Kiara project.
The milestone was celebrated during “A Night with Friends of Wolo” at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas in Kuala Lumpur.
It featured a performance by RTM Orchestra conducted by Datuk Mokhzani Ismail, as well as a special appearance by national songstress Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza.
Guests were also introduced to the team behind the project, which is a 60-storey hotel and residential tower on a 0.93ha plot in Mont Kiara.
Magma Group Bhd group managing director and group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Thomas Liang said the project would be among the tallest developments in the area.

He said the building was designed differently from conventional towers to allow more natural sunlight into the units.
“Our project is designed horizontally because we want everyone who lives in Wolo Mont Kiara to enjoy the natural sunlight that comes through the unit.”
Liang said the project was envisioned to create a community rather than merely provide homes.
“We are building a community where future generations can find love, peace, calmness and return to a place they can call home.”
Liang also spoke about Magma Group’s growth, which expanded from fewer than 10 employees in 2005 to more than 500 employees nationwide.
The company entered the hospitality sector with GoTree Hotel in 2012 before acquiring the Wolo property in Bukit Bintang in 2018.
He said Wolo stood for “We Only Live Once”, which represented the brand’s message of living life to the fullest.

The Mont Kiara project involves Openbox Architects, Veritas Design Group and interior design firm 932 Design.
It is also affiliated with Design Hotels under Marriott Bonvoy.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the development showed continued private-sector confidence in Malaysia’s tourism and hospitality industry.
He said travellers increasingly looked for accommodation offering memorable experiences.
“The vision behind Wolo Hotel and Residences Mont Kiara reflects the growing importance of experience, design and lifestyle in shaping the future of urban tourism.”
Tiong added that the project could also appeal to international long-term residents under the Malaysia My Second Home programme.
He said development should not only be measured by buildings constructed, but also by the experiences and cultural vibrancy created around them.
Present at the gala were Magma Group group executive chairman Datuk Seri Lee Hock Seng, badminton legend Datuk Seri Lee Chong Wei and Magma Property branding director Alan Wong Siew Ong.
