Push your limits by racing up the stairs at the PJ Tower Run on Nov 1 and take in the Petaling Jaya skyline when you reach the top of Menara MBPJ.
Malaysia Towerrunning Association (MTA) president Ravinder Singh, 59, said people of all ages should not miss this incredible opportunity.
“Grab your running shoes, get your friends together and join the fun.
“Challenge yourselves – 25 floors up, 552 steps to the top of Menara MBPJ,” he said of the run organised by MTA in collaboration with Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).
The entrance fee is RM20, but free for those in the “100 Floors Club” – participants who had climbed the equivalent of 100 floors in a single session.
“On Nov 1, MTA will celebrate an extraordinary milestone – 108 consecutive weekly tower running clinics at Menara MBPJ.
“This will earn a Malaysia Book of Records recognition for ‘Most Consecutive Tower Running Clinics Conducted’,” he said.
The milestone will be marked with a special “1-Hour Tower Challenge” where participants climb all 25 floors as many times as possible in an hour.
Ravinder said the Saturday stairs clinic series started with a small group of enthusiasts.
It has since grown into hundreds climbing together every week, proof that Malaysians wanted to be healthier, happier and connected, he said.
“The initiative combines physical activity with nutrition counselling and body composition analysis, making it a holistic grassroots fitness programme.”
The free weekly sessions are open to all, reflecting MTA’s core belief that fitness should be accessible, social and sustainable.
“Each Saturday evening, the building is filled with volunteers, health coaches and families encouraging one another to go up the tower.
“It began on Sept 12, 2023, and has since transformed a city tower into a symbol of determination and inclusivity.
“More than 1,000 Malaysians have joined the clinics, with participants ranging from elite athletes to regular individuals seeking better health.”
Petaling Jaya mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon is scheduled to launch the upcoming run, which would see Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung also in attendance.
