MUZIUM Alam Shah in Shah Alam hosted its annual “Night at the Museum” sleepover programme for students from Selangor’s public secondary schools.

Held since 2005 by the Museum Department, its goal is to educate on heritage to promote patriotism.

The students who took part, aged 15 to 17, were from Sekolah Agama Menengah Tinggi Tengku Ampuan Jemaah, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sultan Salahuddin Abdul, SMK Seksyen 24 (2), SMK Seksyen 11, SMK Seksyen 18 and SMK Bukit Kapar, Klang.

Selangor housing and culture committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the programme, which included activities, set the students on a journey of knowledge, heritage and experience.

He said there had been good response, even receiving recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records for a recent feat, proving its creative approach to educating the masses.

The museum underwent extensive renovations since 2019, including revamping its history, customs and culture, and nature galleries.

“Since reopening its doors in early February, the museum has attracted 100,000 visitors,” said Borhan.

“Another museum, the Stamp Museum, is on the way and is expected to open in early 2027 at Section 14, Shah Alam.”
