The annual “Love Penang Run” will be held on the mainland on Nov 23.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the 5km run, in its fourth edition, would be held at the Seberang Perai City Council Stadium in Jalan Betek, Bukit Mertajam.

He said the run was to instil a sense of love and unity in the community, crossing boundaries and bringing Malaysians together, regardless of background.

“Since its debut in 2022, the ‘Love Penang Run’ has grown into an iconic annual event.

“It is more than just a run, it symbolises our love for the state, unity among the people and commitment to community well-being,” Chow said during a press conference in Komtar.

He said the run reflected the state’s vision of inclusive growth across both the island and the mainland.

“Bukit Mertajam offers the perfect opportunity for participants to experience the uniqueness, diversity and vast potential of this town, which is increasingly becoming the heartbeat of Penang’s future development at a national level.

“This event embodies the state’s long-term goal of empowering the people and building a united and resilient society.”

Chow said the event was jointly organised by the state government, Penang Forward Sports Club (PFSC) and the Penang State Sports Council.

He said the highlight this year would be the lucky draw where participants stood a chance to win any one of the two cars that were the top lucky draw prizes.

PFSC chairman Datuk Lim Choo Hooi said this year the T-shirt would be a bright yellow with the Penang flag printed on the back.

“All participants will receive a finisher’s medal and stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes,” Lim added.

Registration is now closed since all 10,000 slots are filled.
