KLANG Royal City Council (MBDK) is offering 135 lots for its Deepavali bazaar this year.

The festive market will run from Oct 6 to 19, while Deepavali falls on Oct 20.

Klang mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain said the bazaar was set for Lorong Tingkat off Jalan Tengku Kelana in Klang’s Little India.

“We encourage youths to come forward and apply,” he said after MBDK’s full board meeting.

“Bazaar lots will comprise centralised traders (21), festival essentials (79), henna/balloons (15) and fireworks (20).

“All applications must be done online by Sept 12,” he said.

Centralised trading lots under the Traders Management Programme will be allowed to trade in the same space.

Abd Hamid urged entrepreneurs to seize the opportunity, saying, “Having space at the bazaar can generate demand, especially for entrepreneurs of home-based products.”

The fee for each lot is RM580, not inclusive of a refundable deposit of RM400 to ensure compliance with rules including cleanliness.

“For those selling fireworks, the fee is RM1,500, not inclusive of a refundable deposit of RM400,” said the mayor.

“Those who apply to sell fireworks are required to obtain an approval letter from South Klang Police headquarters,” he added.

Abd Hamid said the drawing of lots would be on Sept 24.

“Shopkeepers facing Jalan Tengku Kelana or Lorong Tingkat are allowed to display their goods on the five-foot way but MBDK will charge them RM10 per day,” he said
