Road turned one-way to ease Olive Hill congestion

MINOR traffic changes have been introduced at Olive Hill Business Park in Taman Bukit Serdang to ease peak-hour congestion.

The change at the commercial area in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, follows a series of discussions, site visits and feedback from residents.

Among the adjustments was the conversion of Jalan BS 1/3, previously a two-way road, into a one-way route, said Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) councillor Suzanah Hanim Wong.

Data from MBSJ’s Engineering Department recorded up to 500 vehicles per hour during peak hours, she added.

“The main entrance into Olive Hill now only allows a left turn towards Family Mart, heading to Jalan BS 1/1,” she said, adding that signage have been installed near Family Mart and Burger King to make the routes clearer.

“Jalan BS 1/1 remains a one-way road,” she said.

Suzanah added that MBSJ’s Engineering Department conducted a site visit together with Seri Kembangan assemblyman Wong Siew Ki in February.

“In April, we reviewed which proposals were suitable to be implemented and gazetted, as any change from two-way to one-way would require gazettement.

“At the end of July, notices were put up.

“We received several new suggestions from residents, which we forwarded to the Engineering Department so the signage could be improved,” added Suzanah.

Notices regarding the changes, she said, have been displayed in the area starting Aug 8.

Suzanah said road users have until Sept 8 to submit their feedback to MBSJ through the Public Complaints Management System (Sispaa).

“If we receive no complaints, the council will replace the current plastic barriers with permanent kerbs,” Suzanah said, adding that the total cost of signage and repainting was estimated at RM10,000.

Wong pointed out that many visitors were still unaware of the availability of a large paid parking area with more than 200 bays located beside Jalan BS 1/1, in front of Olive Hill.

“The charges are affordable and employees are encouraged to park there to free up space for visitors.

“We want to ensure that businesses at Olive Hill continue to thrive,” she added.
