FORTY urban poor families will not go hungry for a year, thanks to a successful fundraising effort by employees of Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd and the public.
The campaign, done in collaboration with Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) Society, raised more than RM100,000 for the cause.
The initiative will see each family receive RM250 worth of dry provisions, including rice, cooking oil, milk powder, noodles and canned food, as well as hygiene packs.
The supplies will be distributed once every two months, providing consistent support to low-income and underserved communities.
Matrix Concepts group executive director Kelvin Lee said the partnership reflected both organisations’ shared dedication to community upliftment and social responsibility.
“We at Matrix Concepts believe that even the smallest act of kindness can spark meaningful change, and our collaboration with KSK Society reflects our shared dedication to supporting families in need,” he said.
“By addressing the basic needs of vulnerable groups, the programme reflects Matrix Concepts’ core values of empathy, sustainability and community care.”
Lee added that even the smallest act of kindness could spark meaningful change, and that the initiative aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
KSK Society marketing director Justin Cheah highlighted the non-profit organisation’s mission to create a nation with less homelessness, hunger and poverty, while also having a better quality of life.
“We serve Malaysia’s marginalised communities, regardless of race or religion, through food aid, skills training, and empowerment programmes.
“We also work to combat food insecurity by redistributing surplus food, reducing waste and ensuring essential provisions reach those in need,” he said.
Cheah said KSK Society’s operations were halted for three days last year – the first time in 16 years – due to a lack of funds.
He hopes more corporations will follow Matrix Concepts’ example to ensure the society could continue its vital work in helping the needy.
