Some 70,000 flags were distributed ahead of National Day celebrations in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said 70,000 flags had been put up along protocol roads, public spaces and residential areas to spur the patriotic spirit.

Dr Zaliha also affixed the Jalur Gemilang on 25 official vehicles of government agencies, in a symbolic gesture marking the distribution of 700 flags at Menara Seri Wilayah in Putrajaya.
She reminded Malaysians to be mindful when raising the flag, to ensure it was properly secured, correctly designed and would not endanger people.
Meanwhile, at the Borneo Flora Festival 2025 (BFF) partner appreciation event in Putrajaya, Dr Zaliha said 120,154 visitors attended the flower show, exceeding the 50,000 target.
“This accuracy of the number of visitors was verified through an AI-enabled CCTV scanner. This is 140% above our initial target,” she said during her speech.
She added that domestic visitors were from Sabah, Sarawak, Kedah, Selangor and Negri Sembilan.
Foreign visitors were from the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Timor Leste, China and India, among others.
Dr Zaliha said a total of 66,720 visitors from outside Labuan and 16,680 vehicles arrived in Labuan during the BFF, while 12,347 visitors used speedboat and passenger ferry services.
“We acknowledge that there have been challenges.
“Among them is limited accommodation capacity, which resulted in some visitors having to book way in advance or seek lodging outside the island.
“Connectivity, whether flights, ferries or local land transport, also drew the Prime Minister’s attention,” she said.
These factors would affect visitors’ experience, she noted.
“For larger-scale events, improving the frequency and quality of these services will become even more urgent.”
Dr Zaliha said that on the other hand, the challenges presented opportunities to attract investors, empower local entrepreneurs and foster public-private partnerships to expand accommodation capacity and enhance transport connectivity.
She added that Labuan Corporation had been asked to work with all stakeholders on an action plan to make the most of these opportunities.
