Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, officiated the opening of Datuk Setia Dr Anuar Masduki Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC).

The RM14mil facility was named in honour of a respected cardiologist and pioneering member of SJMC’s founding medical team.

The dedication also coincided with SJMC’s 40th anniversary.

“The cath lab serves as a meaningful continuation of Dr Anuar’s life’s work,” said SJMC chief executive officer (CEO) and Asia OneHealthcare regional CEO Bryan Lin.

Dr Anuar, who passed away in March 2025, co-performed the country’s first Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in 1983, followed by Malaysia’s first coronary angioplasty in 1984.

He also served as personal cardiologist to the former Sultan of Selangor.

Also present were Tengku Panglima Raja Selangor Tengku Ahmad Shah Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Asia OneHealthcare managing director and group CEO Dr Chan Boon Kheng as well as Dr Anuar’s widow Datin Rohana Maimunah Ahmad Zaidi and son Dr Ainur Rahman Anuar.

“Our family is grateful to have the hospital honour dad’s memory by naming a cath lab after him,” said Dr Ainur Rahman, a consultant ophthalmologist and corneal surgeon at SJMC.
