The infrastructure, digital economy and talent development initiatives under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) aligns closely with the Maju Johor agenda.
Johor investment, trade, consumer affairs and human resources committee chairman Lee Ting Han said the plan also supported the recognition of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) as a key driver of regional economic integration and high quality investments.
“The establishment of a one-stop investment centre, along with the commitment to facilitate cross-border investments, reflects strong alignment between federal and state policies in elevating Johor as a new national growth hub,” he said in a media statement.
Lee said the state also welcomed the plan’s focus on artificial intelligence (AI) adoption, digital infrastructure and data centre development.
“Johor is now at the forefront of the data centre and digital investment industry, and these areas align with our strengths as a preferred destination for high-tech investment.
“We find the green economy initiatives and water sector transformation plan to be in line with Johor’s sustainability agenda.
“The focus on smart grid systems, battery energy storage systems (Bess), and water efficiency are among Johor’s key priorities that are actively being pursued.”
Lee also lauded the 13MP’s focus on major infrastructure development, such as the Gemas-Johor Baru double-tracking project, Elevated Automated Rapid Transit (E-ART) and the upgrading of the Senai Utara-Machap stretch of the North-South Highway.
“The Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link connecting Johor Baru and Singapore is also a transformational regional mobility project that will ease daily movement for thousands of workers and tourists, reduce border congestion and enhance economic integration.
“The expansion project for the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), one of the busiest container ports in Malaysia, will also support the growth of low-carbon maritime trade and position Malaysia as a regional logistics hub,” he added.
Lee said Johor also welcomed the recognition as one of the designated locations for the Strategic Tourism Investment Zone (STIZ), alongside other states.
“This will empower our tourism sector ahead of Visit Johor 2026 and support the goal of making tourism a key contributor to the state’s GDP,” he said.
He also thanked the Federal Government for building Sultanah Aminah Hospital 2 (HSA2).
“HSA2 will complement the existing healthcare infrastructure and help ease congestion at the main hospital.
“This is a strategic investment that will improve healthcare access for the people of Johor.
“We are confident that the inclusive and strategic implementation of the MP13 will unlock Johor’s full potential, accelerate its path towards developed state status, and bring direct benefits to the people as well as the national economy,” he noted.
