Visitors to a theme park in Iskandar Puteri will soon be able to explore a Lego replica of Stadium Sultan Ibrahim, one of Johor’s most recognisable landmarks.

Legoland Malaysia vice-president CS Lim said its version was expected to be launched at Legoland Malaysia Resort at the end of June.

“We are very proud to have the replica of a building that is close to the hearts of Johor folk as the latest addition to our Miniland, in collaboration with the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) Football Club.

“JDT is a club that represents the pride, ambition and spirit of Johor. We are proud to collaborate on an experience that celebrates both football fandom and family play in a uniquely creative way,” he said.

Lim said this to the press after an exclusive first look at the Stadium Sultan Ibrahim Miniland at Merlin Entertainment Studios Malaysia.

He added that the Miniland exhibit, involving some 400,000 Lego pieces, took about 5,200 hours to complete.

“We take every detail very seriously, as we want visitors to feel as though they are watching a live match at the stadium itself when they see this replica.

“So, every door, shop, ticket counter, light and even the supporters in the replica are as close to the real thing as possible.

“It comes with the blue and red lights of JDT and some 8,000 Lego supporters cheering during a football match,” he said.

The exclusive preview was also attended by JDT chief operating officer Alistair Edwards and six of the club’s footballers.

Edwards said Legoland’s aspiration aligned with the football club’s aim of bringing the community together.

“JDT has always been about more than football.

“It is about community and inspiring the next generation.

“Through this collaboration with Legoland, we are excited to introduce a new way for families and young fans to experience the spirit of JDT beyond the stadium,” he said.

Meanwhile, Stadium Sultan Ibrahim Stadium Miniland project manager Muhammad Izuddin Ahmad said the stadium’s debut was timely with the World Cup season approaching.

“We want to bring in things that are close to the people of Johor, and the stadium and JDT are definitely among them.

“Besides that, the stadium was also voted Stadium of the Year in 2020 (by global database and football stadium portal StadiumDB.com), making it appealing not just to locals but also to an international audience,” he said.

To mark the launch, Legoland will introduce a limited-edition annual pass inspired by the stadium’s architecture and design, created just for the collaboration.
