A charity sports day brought together over 250 participants at SJK (C) Kwong Hon in Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur.
Star Run 2025, organised by non-profit JCI Entrepreneur, turned the Saturday morning into a celebration of youth, hope and social unity.
With an uplifting theme of “Run Like a Star, Shine Like a Champion”, the event welcomed around 150 children aged four to 18 from four welfare homes: Sunbeam Homes Foundation, Mikhalai, Shandai Centre and Rumah Charis.
Supported by volunteers, sponsors and corporate partners, the day provided a rare opportunity for the children to enjoy outdoor sports, laughter and connection.
“Planning this took months of coordination but we knew it was worth it the moment we saw the kids run with joy,” said event organising chairman Vicky Cheong.
“Many of these children rarely get to participate in sports activities like this.
“So, we wanted to make this a truly meaningful experience.”

The event theme symbolises the belief that every child, regardless of background, has the potential to shine.
She said Star Run 2025 wasn’t just about physical movement; it was about building confidence, self-worth and community support.
“While younger children took part in a Fun Run, older participants competed in energetic sprint races and relays, and a spirited tug-of-war.
For encouragement, each child was paired with a volunteer runner.
“Real impact comes from meaningful action and we hope this inspires more people, especially entrepreneurs and working adults, to take time, show up, and help make a difference,” added Cheong.
The organisers also expressed thanks to event partners Hypro Renovation, Big Apple, Elaine, Yun & Associates, and venue sponsor SJK (C) Kwong Hon.
Many other generous contributors behind the scenes were also given credit for their roles.
Star Run 2025 concluded with smiles and cheers and a lasting message that everyone has the power to give back to the community, and every child deserves an opportunity to shine.
